Wedding Day Makeup Preparation

We all want to be the glowing bride on our wedding day so why not make it happen? The biggest fear our brides have when the big day is approaching is what their skin is going to decide to do that day. Well worry no more because we have all the secrets to what to do when preparing your skin for your wedding day.

Don’t be afraid to prepare yourself before you come to get your makeup done! Taking a personal day at the salon to get your eyebrows waxed or getting any other unwanted facial hair removed is a great idea. Dermaplaning treatments are always good to do prior to your wedding day because not only does it remove unwanted hair, but it also gives you that "glowing bride" look you are wanting to capture. You want to look stunning on your wedding day, so why not treat yourself a few days before?

Avoid tanning at all cost days before your wedding. You do not want to over tan and end up coming to your makeup artist the day of your wedding three shades darker than what you were at your consolation appointment. It wont be good for your, your makeup artist, and even your photographer. Being too tan can really affect the way your makeup and photos come out so know that, it’s okay to tan, just don’t overdo it days prior to your wedding!

Moisturizing your face will be the best thing you have ever done for your skin in preparation to get your makeup done for the big day. A good way to prepare your skin for your wedding day if you have dried or red skin is to try a five minute sugar; yes that’s right sugar body scrub. Sounds delicious…for your skin! All you need is…

2.5 cups of sugar in the raw

¾ cup of white granulated sugar

4-5 tablespoons of your favorite extract (vanilla, orange, almond, etc.)

¼ cup of almond oil.

Make sure you also give your skin time to breath. Taking a break from the everyday makeup application before your wedding day is always a good idea. That way, we can get started on your face right away without having to remove and access makeup from the night before.

The last thing to always remember when getting your makeup done on your wedding day is to be punctual! Have your first face set up and ready to go so that we can get started on making everyone in the bridal party look flawless.

At your pre consolation appointment, we will be able to tell you what your skin needs, what will make your skin look flawless, and what will work best to capture that all day look you are going for.

Emergency Wedding Day Makeup Kit

It’s always a good idea to pack up and bring your own emergency makeup kit for your wedding day preparation. That way, if you prefer to use your favorite type of lip gloss, or you have a sudden urge to change up the type of mascara you want to show off on the big day, you will have it all in your bag at arm’s length away.

Here is a list of some emergency kit essentials we think you might find useful to have on hand for your wedding day:
  • Touch up powder for shine
  • Sponges & Q-tips
  • Makeup Wipes
  •  Eyelash Glue
  • Nail Polish remover
  • Small folding scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Eye Drops
  • Dental floss
  • Headband, hair ties, or clips to pull your hair back
  • Straws so that the bride can stay hydrated without smudging her lipstick
  • Tissues
  •  Breath mints
  • Toothpaste or the mini WISP toothbrush for unwanted/surprise acne (yes, it really works!)

Winterize Your Skin

With spring right around the corner, you may be getting a little anxious on getting your skin back to the radiant condition you prefer.  I have compiled a few tips together to help you get started on improving your skin, while it’s still a little chilly out. If you follow these simple, easy steps to keep your skin up to its tiptop shape, you and your skin will be ready to strut your stuff for the upcoming season!

You should always remember to hydrate yourself from the outside, in. Although you may think your skin is completely hydrated, sometimes keeping our skin hydrated is often looked over. Use a daily moisturizer such as Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lotion  on your skin along with your daily skincare routine whenever you get out of the shower. This way you are helping to hydrate your skin and giving it the extra touch of moisturizer it may need.

Another important way to hydrate your skin is by drinking lots and lots of water! Water is the most purifying thing you can give to your skin to make it look its healthiest. By drinking water, not only are you hydrating your skin, you are also helping to wash out all the toxins your body may have consumed over this chilly winter season. Your skin will thank you for this.

To really enhance your moisturizing routine to get the best results, use a gentle exfoliator to scrape off all the dead skin cells from head to toe. If you are into DIY remedies, try this little concoction as your exfoliator, it works amazingly!
 What you will need is:
• A large bowl
• 1 2/3 cups of salt or sugar
• 1/2 cup of olive oil
• 3 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice

For your lips, use a lip exfoliator to get those smooth, plump lips you have always wanted. By doing this, you will be removing the dead skin cells that have built up from dry skin and the biggest no no of all, licking your lips. Avoid licking your lips at all cost! You will just make your lips more chapped in the long run.  Instead use your favorite lip moisturizer, mine being Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer. If you want to go the more natural route for your lip exfoliator try this DIY remedy:
·         1 teaspoon of white sugar
·         A few drops of olive oil
·         Mix, scrub, exfoliate, enjoy!

Good luck and happy winterizing. See you in spring!
